I don't think where he's being played is the issue. The issue is that he's just a bog-standard player - decent at times, but uninspiring. A waste of money for us. As has been obvious for years over his career, given his lack of pace and limited skill his ceiling is pretty much lower in the table in the premiership - buying a player on the decline from that level is just not my idea of progress. A ludicrous transfer.

Noble could have crossed from that deep angle, but with two team-mates nearby, I'm pretty sure he was trying to combine to get someone down the line to cross from a much more dangerous, hard to defend, angle.

There's two things here.
Wasting momentum in our attack - Noble's fault.
Surrendering possession to Chelsea so they could launch their own attack, from which they scored - Snodgrass's fault. The ball he got from Noble in no way put him under pressure.

Hermit is right. Having wasted all the time in the world to hoist a high ball to the big men we had lined up on the edge, Noble squirted the balk at Snodgrass putting him under pressure and he in turn played a hurried, bad ball to Feghouli.
Ultimately, Noble should have played the blindingly obvious ball, particularly when we had 3/4 of the team in advance of the ball.

Noble had ten minutes and an acre of space to cross into a crowded box that contained our centre backs. He chose a hospital pass to Snodgrass instead.

Noble passed to Snodgrass, who fucked up, by passing to the space behind Feghouli, giving him no chance to beat his man..
At most, Noble gets the assist to the fuck-up.
